NC DHHS has developed partnerships with North Carolina Area Health Education Center (NC AHEC) to provide practice support, technical assistance, and continuing professional development to help Tailored Care Management providers who have applied and passed the desk review in the transition to Tailored Care Management. The TCM Continuing Professional Development programs are designed to assist TCM care managers, supervisors, and extenders with evidence-based practices in all treatment settings for the successful implementation of TCM.

This system of care training outlines the core values of system of care, provides guidance in making connections to improve SOC partnerships within the community, and discusses the key role family and youth play in NC's System of Care and specific ways the family/youth voice should be incorporated when developing treatment plans, family-centered practices, policies, and activities to support children, youth, and families.

Approximate time to complete the course: 1.25 hours
Learner content includes: A video and corresponding course handout
Participants have until April 14, 2028 to complete this course and access course materials.

Audience

TCM care managers, supervisors, and extenders from the Tailored Plans, TCM certified advanced medical homes+ (AMH+) and care management agencies (CMA)

Objectives

Participants will be able to:

check Describe an overview and understanding of what is meant by the term "System of Care," its core principles, and how it is to be implemented in North Carolina
check Give examples of 3-5 ways to apply System of Care principles to support children, youth, and families in their communities and schools
check Explain the principles of system theory and leading models of System of Care implementation
check Demonstrate how to implement the System of Care principles and apply specific methods to provide care for NC youth and families receiving services as part of North Carolina's Tailored and Standard Plans

Cancellation Policy

MAHEC has a pay-up-front policy for all CE programs. The only exceptions will be for pre-approved programs where an individual payment plan is appropriate. Registrations received without accompanying payment will not be processed and participants who have not paid the course fee will not be admitted into the program.

Unless otherwise noted in course materials, the following cancellation policy applies to all programs:

  • Cancellations must be in writing (fax, email, or mail).
  • Cancellations received more than two weeks prior to the event will receive 100% refund.
  • Cancellations received between two weeks and five full business days prior to the first day of the event are refunded at 70% of the registration fee subject to a minimum $25 cancellation fee.
  • No refunds or credits will be given for cancellations received less than five full business days prior to the event.
  • No vouchers will be issued in lieu of a refund.
  • Transfers/substitute(s) are welcome (please notify us in advance of the program).
