COVID Vaccines: MAHEC community pharmacies can administer the COVID vaccine to patients 18 and older without a prescription. Patients 18-64 require a high-risk condition that is documented through a self-attestation form available at the pharmacy. Patients 65 and older do not require an attestation.

Watch for more information about vaccine availability in our clinics in the coming days!

Division of Research and Analytics

The Division of Research and Analytics works in collaboration with our clinical practices and our academic health center at UNC Health Sciences. Our scientists support Graduate Medical Education (GME) research, grant funded MAHEC projects, as well as local and regional community partnerships that benefit Western North Carolina.

Our team consists of research scientists, research associates, and research coordinators who share a particular focus on addressing the most predominant health issues facing our rural populations.

Our research team focuses on addressing:

  • Workforce development
  • Substance use disorder
  • Medical education and practice
  • Maternal health
  • Community-based participatory research

To meet these needs, we focus on creating interdisciplinary teams made up of clinicians, patients, public health professionals, teaching faculty, residents, medical and allied health students, local partners, other academic institutions, and state and national healthcare experts.

We work in close partnership with our Division of Clinical Trials and Division of Program Evaluation to provide comprehensive research services to our clinical departments and community partners.
