Welcome to the MAHEC Passport Program! This NC AHEC program was established to meet workforce needs by creating a pathway for students across North Carolina to become academically prepared for a career in healthcare. This program offers support for students to participate in three categories: ENGAGE, gain further EDUCATION, and EXPLORE career opportunities in the healthcare workforce.

By participating in this program, students have a unique opportunity to gain academic and enrichment hours towards a Certificate of Completion that is recognized by academic institutions and employers in North Carolina, which sets them apart from other students in an increasingly competitive environment. The Passport Program Curriculum offers students the chance to document and collectively report all of the health science, community service hours, learning opportunities, and leadership activities they participate in as early as 8th grade.

The pilot program for the 2024-2025 school year is for students in Asheville City Schools, Henderson County Schools, and Mitchell County Schools. We are accepting a maximum of 30 students in this pilot program. Application deadline is Friday, June 7, 2024.
