Pre-Med Track Program

The MAHEC Pre-Med Track Program is an opportunity for regional undergraduates to gain additional personalized support around the medical school application process. Selected participants will have the opportunity to complete a free Spring Princeton Review MCAT Preparation Course, receive personalized advising and personal statement review, attend presentations on UNC School of Medicine Admissions and Medical School Selection, participate in Mock Interviews, and have preferential consideration for one of MAHEC’s paid Clinical Summer Internships (subject to internship criteria and availability). Pre-Med Track programming runs through the academic year. This program aims to increase successful matriculation of Western North Carolina applicants to medical schools.

Application Criteria

  • Current undergraduate junior or senior attending any WNC university or origination from a WNC county
  • Successful completion of most pre-medical requirements (including introductory biology, general and organic chemistry, physics, biochemistry, etc.)
  • GPA 3.2+
  • Intent to apply to medical school in 1-2 years
  • Interest in pursuing a medical career and caring for underserved populations
  • Completion and submission of the Pre-Med Track Application and Advisor Recommendation Form

Applicants may be selected for interviews after the application deadline. Interviews will be virtual and scheduled via the email provided on the application.
