Summer Camp

MAHEC offers a one-of-a-kind, 4-day, 3-night camp for rural high school students (rising juniors, seniors, or class of 2024 seniors) who are interested in health careers. Stay overnight in dorms at UNCA and participate in daily, hands-on, healthcare activities on UNCA and MAHEC’s campus and participate in a trip to the Asheville Adventure Park’s ropes course. There is no cost for students to attend.

Applications are now open and will be accepted through Friday, May 3rd. If accepted, students will be notified by Friday, May 10th, and will be required to complete paperwork with their parent/guardians for final camp acceptance.

Eligibility Requirements

• Rising high school juniors and seniors in WNC
• Strong desire to pursue a career in healthcare
• Minimum weighted grade point average of 3.0
• Excellent references, based on teacher recommendations
• Active record of work and/or community service
