Hello folks! My name is Nick Conces and I’m looking forward to joining the General Practice Residency for dentistry at MAHEC! I spent the first eighteen years of my life in the suburbs of Chicago, where I grew up playing soccer, running track, and enjoying time downtown on the weekends. For undergrad, I spent four years in Louisville, Kentucky, where I was able to watch Lamar Jackson play, and also some horse racing since it’s home to the Kentucky Derby. I then followed Lamar Jackson to Baltimore (Go Ravens!) where I was able to enjoy Charm City and get a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in May of 2025.
Outside of dentistry, I enjoy getting active by going on runs, hikes, and trying new restaurants (I love food, and my favorite food is clams). I am looking forward to my time here in Asheville and calling it home! It is a privilege to have the opportunity to serve the population of western NC and advance my dental education. Hello! My name is Leah Gause and I am from Appleton, Wisconsin. I graduated from UW-Madison with a bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering with a minor in Global Health and Biology in Engineering. I then attended Marquette for Dental School and graduated this past May. After spending my whole life in Wisconsin, I am ready for some change in North Carolina!
Outside of work, I enjoy hiking, reading, and spending time with friends and family. I can’t wait to see what Asheville offers and am excited to see if Asheville’s breweries can rival Wisconsin’s. I am so grateful for the opportunity to be a part of MAHEC’s team and cannot wait to learn and grow as a provider this coming year!

Hi there! My name is Gwen Geisler and I am from Connecticut. I attended Colby College for my undergraduate degree where I majored in psychology and minored in chemistry. I also had the awesome oppurtunity to play on their Division III lacrosse team during my time there. After college, I went straight into Dental School at the University of Connecticut School of Dentistry where I earned my DMD degree.
Outside of dentistry, I love running, tennis, and reading. I've also stayed involved in the game of lacrosse with varying coaching and mentorship roles. I am excited to continue my dental career in Asheville and can’t wait to enjoy everything the city has to offer from the hikes to the breweries!

Hello! My name is Brian Legato, and I grew up in Colchester, Connecticut. I went to the University of Hartford for Biomedical Engineering and then attended the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine where I received my Doctorate of Medicine in Dentistry.
In my free time I like to make wire jewelry, go on hikes, and spend time reading with my partner. I am really looking forward to working with the MAHEC community and am excited to grow my skills as a dental provider while here. I am also looking forward to settling down in North Carolina and exploring all that Asheville and the other communities have to offer!

Hello everyone! My name is Cristina Muncy and I grew up in Richmond, Virgina. I attended undergrad at the University of Virginia where I double majored in Biology and Spanish, and then returned to Richmond to complete my dental degree at Virginia Commonwealth University.
In my free time, I love swimming, playing volleyball, reading, doing various arts and crafts, and hanging out with friends and family. My dream is to own a cat or dog, and I fight the urge to go to the local shelter *just to look* probably every other week! I am looking forward to working alongside my co-residents and learning from the amazing team at MAHEC this year. Asheville has such an amazing community and I am beyond excited to explore everything that this beautiful town has to offer.

Hi everyone! My name is Anna Rule and I’m from Summerfield, NC. I graduated from the University of South Carolina in 2021 with a Bachelor of Science in Public Health. After undergrad, I went on to earn my DMD from the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, SC.
Outside of dentistry, I enjoy hot yoga, pilates, traveling, and spending quality time with family and friends. Growing up, my grandparents lived in Asheville, so the city has always felt like a second home to me. I’m so excited for this next chapter and the opportunity to continue my education at MAHEC while serving the Asheville community alongside my co-residents!

Hi everyone! My name is Rachael Smith and I grew up in Parkland, Florida. I graduated from Florida State University where I received my Bachelor of Science in Family and Child Sciences. I then attended the University of South Florida where I received my Master of Science in Biomedical Sciences. After that, I finally started dental school at Nova Southeastern University and graduated with my DMD in May 2025!
Outside of dentistry, I love staying active and trying out new fitness classes. I enjoy being outdoors, cooking, and spending time with friends and family. I am from Florida, so I am super excited to explore a new state and brand-new environment! I can’t wait to serve the North Carolina community and am excited to continue my training as a MAHEC provider.
