In this 1-hour interactive module, the learner will build their understanding of the factors that contribute to SUD development, with emphasis on adolescence as a pivotal stage for future substance use. Dr. Steve Wyatt, an addiction psychiatrist, will describe effective strategies for communicating with parents and kids about reducing the risk of adolescent substance use.Approximate time to complete the course: 1 hour

This training module is part of a training suite that has been developed in accordance with the recommendations from the DEA and SAMHSA for the Medication Access and Training Expansion (MATE) Act. This requirement applies to physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, podiatrists, dentists, and other practitioners that prescribe controlled substances who are applying for or renewing their DEA license after June 27, 2023.
