Description
Parents may ask about donor human milk for their infant and about sharing their milk with another infant. This panel discussion will showcase the expansion of the North Carolina Human Donor Milk Program with presentations on the medical and nutritional significance of donor milk, how to become an approved milk donor, and the processing of milk after it is received by the milk bank prior to distribution to infants. Data that has been collected since the beginning of the Human Donor Milk Depot Program will be discussed as well as the plan for expanding Human Milk Bank Depots in North Carolina. Information will be shared on how you can get involved.

At the end of this training the learner will be able to:
- Discuss the benefits, uses, and nutritional aspects of human donor milk
- Explain how to become an approved milk donor
- Explain the role of donor depots in the process
- Summarize Milk Bank processes and what happens to milk after donation
- Describe the progress of the program's expansion, its mission, vision, four-year expansion plan and opportunities to become involved
