MAHEC's Project ECHO: The What's What of Managing Type 2 Diabetes in Primary Care
Dec 31–Apr 15, 2025 Closed Medicine Nursing

Description
Project ECHO® is a lifelong learning and guided practice model that revolutionizes medical education to provide best-practice specialty care and reduce health disparities. ECHO is led by an expert team that uses multi-point videoconferencing to conduct virtual learning sessions comprised of a short didactic followed by case presentations provided by participants. The ECHO® model includes case discussions presented by attendees. This is the participant's chance to discuss difficult patient cases with expert panelists and colleagues to gain feedback. When registering for this project ECHO®, please be prepared to share a case discussion during one of our sessions.
With fewer Endocrinology practices to serve Western North Carolina, providers in primary care need to be equipped to manage more complex type 2 diabetes. The focus of this ECHO will be to update local providers on best practices to manage type 2 diabetes. The content of this series will empower all healthcare team members to address diabetes-related quality measures as well as financial and social barriers to care.
This video teleconferencing series, guided by experts, takes place over six bi-weekly modules (one-hour each) from 7:00 AM until 8:00 AM EST and will cover topics such as:
• What about Lifestyle Interventions?
• What about preventing complications?
• What about SGLT2 inhibitors?
• What about GLP1 agonists?
• What about Insulin?
• What about Continuous Glucose Monitors?
MAHEC engages in evaluation activities to better understand the impact of our programs. By registering for this course, you agree that we may use your personal information in evaluative research regarding this program. Any reports published will be de-identified and reported in aggregate format. All program dates are streamed on the ECHO Zoom Platform. They take place biweekly on Tuesdays from 7AM to 8AM EST. Sessions begin on February 4th and go through April 15th 2025. Participants must login at 6:30 AM for attendance. One credit hour is earned for each session attended.
Please note: Project ECHO provides the Zoom link to MAHEC 30 minutes prior to each session. Once we receive it, we will email the link to all registrants.
