Summer 2025 Medical Interpreter Series

Jul 10–Jul 25, 2025 Open Allied Health

Summer 2025 Medical Interpreter Series

Description

The purpose of this series of classes is to improve the skills of individuals who provide or wish to provide interpreter services in any language in health or human services settings. Participants will learn the primary roles, ethics and techniques of professional interpreting. The importance of cultural competence and confidentiality issues are stressed throughout the training. This series is offered in-person only in Summer 2025 (but if needed for COVID safety, may pivot to a blended format of home study elements and a short live webinar with the instructor at the conclusion of each class level).

Note: Participants for Level 1 and/or the entire Summer Series must register by June 19, 2025 so that the course manual (included in the course fee) can be ordered in time.

Note: Forty hours of medical interpreter training is one of the pre-requisites to take the National Medical Interpreter Certification Examination. The first four classes in this series, combined, fulfill this part of the requirement.

Note: The classes in this Summer series are not interchangeable with those in MAHEC's Winter Cross-Cultural Communications, LLC (CCC) Interpreter Series.
