2024 Falls Prevention Conference

Description

Join with others at this interprofessional conference to prepare for the 2024 Falls Prevention Awareness Week (Sept. 23-27)! We will tackle the ongoing problem of injurious falls. This year's conference focus is the impact of various chronic health conditions, such as osteoporosis, dementia, diabetes, Parkinson's and peripheral neuropathy on balance, falls and falls prevention. Exhibitors will be on-site with related services and products. Attend either on-site at MAHEC in Asheville, or via live webinar.

Target Audience

Aging Services Professionals and Healthcare Professionals

Objectives

Upon completion of this educational activity, participants will be able to:

  • Discuss the impact of various conditions such as dementia, diabetes, osteoporosis, peripheral neuropathy and Parkinson's on balance, injurious falls and falls prevention
  • Utilize the ACSM (American College of Sports Medicine) Exercise is Medicine framework to enhance assessments, treatments and referrals for those with chronic conditions, such as arthritis, that are also related to fall prevention
  • Engage in advocacy and outreach to enhance access to programs that reduce injurious falls
