Phlebotomy 101: How to Successfully Draw Labs

Description

This two hour refresher course is designed to teach participants how to successfully draw blood in any healthcare setting.

The first portion of the course will review the basic fundamentals of phlebotomy and give detailed instruction on how to perform venipuncture, retrieve blood for laboratory tests, and correctly fill laboratory tubes.

The second portion of the course will be hands-on practice and validation of phlebotomy skills using task trainers.

After completion of this course, the participants will be able to describe indications for phlebotomy, discuss different methods used to obtain blood samples, list the supplies needed for a blood draw, demonstrate the step-by-step process for collecting a blood sample, and identify complications that can occur with phlebotomy procedures.

**Please note, this is NOT a phlebotomy certification course.

RN Refreshers, RNs, LPNs, Nursing Students, Certified Nursing Assistants & Medical Assistants
