In this 1-hour interactive, virtual module, Dr. Wyatt, an addiction psychiatrist, will describe the medications for opioid use disorder and how to prescribe them. He will provide an understanding of how to use the three FDA approved medications most effectively for the treatment of opioid use disorders, with a focus on prescribing buprenorphine, especially in the age of fentanyl. Finally, he will explain how to assess clinical opioid withdrawal and how to manage withdrawal symptoms.

This training module is part of a training suite that has been developed in accordance with the recommendations from the DEA and SAMHSA for the Medication Access and Training Expansion (MATE) Act. This requirement applies to physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, podiatrists, dentists, and other practitioners that prescribe controlled substances who are applying for or renewing their DEA license after June 27, 2023.
