This module will include information about chronic pain that will help participants build understanding of the physical and emotional impact of pain. People who attend will develop awareness of what chronic pain is, and the role of central sensitization in maintaining ongoing discomfort. We will discuss the psychological component of pain and the link between pain and trauma. Participants will build tools to support people in special populations as they work through their pain. Learners will deepen their knowledge of opioids and the research evidence about their appropriate use and risks. We will also discuss an evidence-based approach to using medication to treat opioid use disorder.
