This FREE program is available to school personnel in the following WNC Counties: Alexander, Alleghany, Ashe, Avery, Buncombe, Caldwell, Cherokee, Clay, Graham, Haywood, Henderson, Jackson, Macon, Madison, McDowell, Mitchell, Polk, Rutherford, Swain, Transylvania, Watauga, Wilkes, and Yancey counties.
Substance Use Prevention Educator and veteran School Counselor, Kriya Lendzion, LCMHC, LCAS, CPS, will discuss the most commonly misused substances by adolescents including caffeine, alcohol, nicotine, marijuana, and prescription and over-the-counter medications. This course will provide key information to prepare school educators and personnel in Western North Carolina how to recognize the signs and symptoms of substance misuse in youth and how to prevent and intervene in such cases. Lendzion will explore the role that educators and school personnel play in early prevention and intervention by providing situation specific tools and resources.

Participants will have 45 days from the date of their registration to complete this course. After that date, course materials will no longer be accessible.
