Perinatal Substance Exposure Education (PSEED) in Tailored Care Management
Sep 9–Sep 16, 2022 Closed Medicine Mental Health Nursing
Description
July 1st, 2021 marked the start of NC Medicaid Transformation with the transition to Standard Care Plans. NC DHHS has begun the process of preparing for Tailored Care Management (TCM) to begin on December 1st, 2022. To prepare for this, DHHS has developed partnerships with North Carolina Area Health Education Center (NC AHEC) to provide practice support, technical assistance, and continuing professional development to help Tailored Care Management providers who have applied and passed the desk review in the transition to Tailored Care Management. The TCM Continuing Professional Development programs are designed to assist TCM candidates with evidenced-based practices in all treatment settings for the successful implementation of TCM.
This training focuses on the necessary role of the PSEED educator in the perinatal substance use disorder (PSUDs) team. The goals of this training will be to establish foundational knowledge to create and implement this role on a team.
In this training, we will explore the how to navigate the various systems involved in PSUDs treatment, including medical and behavioral healthcare, substance use disorder care, the Department of Social Services, and the judicial system. We will help attendees identify key partnerships to successfully perform PSEED for your patients and staff, as well as review what constitutes evidence-based practice and what legislative standards impact your patient population and how to educate them on these standards. We will discuss the scope of the role of the PSEED educator across the spectrum of perinatal care from screening to postpartum.
The training is a two part, live webinar that will be recorded.
