Intraoral Radiography for Dental Assistants, Part B: Hands-on Clinical - MAHEC in Asheville, NC

Description

This course is designed to meet part of the requirement set forth in the Dental Practice Act for the State of North Carolina for the certification of office trained dental assistants to perform intraoral radiography (IOR). This hands-on 14-hour clinical portion follows successful completion of the online Part A portion, available through the Greensboro AHEC*. IOR Part B IOR Instructor, Charlene Smith, RDH will instruct the participant in 14 hours of hands-on clinical lab (Part B) sessions at the MAHEC Dental Health Center and Center for Advanced Training in Asheville, NC, on June 24 & 25, 2022.

*The person registering for Part B must have completed the online Part A IOR training and successfully passed the Part A IOR Written Exam prior to the Part B. To register and pay for Part A IOR, go to AHEConnect. Registration fee for Part A is $240.00. Please allow at least 2 weeks to complete this part of the overall IOR training.

Objectives

Upon completion of this hands-on course, the participant will be able to:

• Demonstrate proper steps to mount and critique dental radiographs
• Expose full mouth series on radiography mannequin (DXTTR) using paralleling technique with a beam alignment device and digital sensor
• Apply proper infection control techniques in accordance with the infection control policy for the radiology clinic
