This lecture and discussion-based presentation will cover two topics: Nutrition in Dentistry and Social Media in the Dental Office. The 1-hour nutrition section will review current dietary recommendations for Americans in relation to oral health and discuss the implications of specific foods and nutrients on oral health in a life span approach and the importance of speaking to our patients about their nutritional health. The social media hour will include discussion of social media's impact on dentistry including the positive and negative effects of social media, and how to handle patient information correctly per HIPAA. Included in this presentation are ways to develop and incorporate a social media policy for your practice.
Note: Per the NCBDE rules, of this 2-hour presentation, only the one hour on nutrition will count towards clinical continuing competence hours for license renewal.
