This course will examine topics in pediatric dentistry that are important for the general dentist and their auxiliaries.
Topics that will be covered include:
1) Restorative dentistry
2) The "age one" dental visit
3) Pulp therapy for primary teeth
4) Medical immobilization (protective stabilization)
5) Silver diamine fluoride

Objectives
Upon completion of this lecture and discussion-based educational activity, the participant will be able to:
- Discuss the importance of the "age one" dental visit and its components; why the principles of restorative dentistry are different in primary teeth compared to permanent teeth
- Cite the importance and consequences in the choice of restorative materials in primary teeth; techniques and therapeutic options for pulp therapy in primary teeth
- List the indications for medical immobilization (protective stabilization) along with the requirements of consent and documentation
- Relate the indications, limitations, techniques and safety of silver diamine fluoride
