The Brain Injury Association of NC (BIANC), in collaboration with the Mountain Area Health Education Center (MAHEC), is offering this interprofessional conference on November 30 & December 1, 2018, at MAHEC in Asheville, NC. This conference will enable healthcare providers to help people with traumatic brain injuries (TBI) and their families have hope as challenges occur during recovery. Topics will be addressed by expert speakers and survivors of traumatic brain injury. TBI survivors and family members are invited to join the conference on the second day and must pre-register.

Objectives
- Cite the impact of healthcare transformation in NC on persons with TBI
- Discuss key issues such as gender, social determinants, mental health and substance use disorder that can impact persons with TBI
- Incorporate various strategies for managing concussion, including holistic approaches to treatment; and adapt the military's Progressive Return to Activity (after acute Concussion/mTBI) model to civilian populations
- Learn from TBI survivors/families' experiences how they have faced challenges and are living with hope
