Description

This Boot Camp has been created so that participants may obtain the approved and required trainings in the six key topic areas offered:

1) Prevention & Control of Infectious Diseases
2) Medication in Child Care
3) Handling & Storage of Hazardous Materials and the Appropriate Disposal of Bio-Contaminates
4) Prevention & Response to Emergencies Due to Food and Allergic Reactions
5) Emergency Preparedness & Response in Child Care
6) Prevention of Shaken Baby Syndrome / Abusive Head Trauma


As part of the federal Child Care and Development Block Grant Act 2014, states must require health and safety pre-service or orientation training for all eligible CCDF providers. The new law requires documentation of training in 10 specific health and safety topic areas as well as highly recommends training in child development. The intent of the training is to support basic health and safety standards designed to prevent harm to children.

Objectives

  • Participate in six state approved trainings to fulfill the DCDEE Health and Safety training requirements
  • Participate in opportunities to build networks and supportive learning communities
  • Explore strategies to build Health and Safety "Best Practice" into their classrooms
