The MAHEC Family Health Center at Biltmore offers No-Scalpel Vasectomy consultations and procedures for patients who are sure they want a permanent form of birth control. You will first have a consultation visit, which allows us to review your complete medical history, do a physical exam, and review the vasectomy process with you in detail to ensure it is a good fit for you. Then, you will schedule the vasectomy procedure, which is usually done on a Friday to have the weekend to recover. If you have Medicaid or Family Planning Medicaid, the procedure cannot happen for at least 30 days after the consultation.
We accept all forms of insurance. We will call your insurance company before your appointment to find out how much of the consult and procedure fees they will cover. We accept Medicaid and Family Planning Medicaid, which fully cover the consult and procedure. We help patients who do not have insurance or who have a high-deductible insurance plan get a vasectomy consult and procedure through a patient assistance program with a sliding scale fee based on income.
You do not have to be an established patient at MAHEC to receive care in the Vasectomy clinic, and you do not need to have a referral from your primary care doctor either. If you think you might be a good candidate for a vasectomy or would like more information about the procedure, call the MAHEC Family Center at 828-257-4730 to schedule a consultation.
