This four-hour training equips providers serving individuals with physical and mental health conditions, substance use disorders, traumatic brain injuries, and intellectual/developmental disabilities with the knowledge and tools to develop and implement effective emergency preparedness and response plans.
Participants will learn how to coordinate emergency outreach, ensure continuity of care, and manage the relocation of individuals in alternative housing settings. The program emphasizes cross-sector collaboration, trauma-informed response, and resource mobilization to safeguard both clients and staff during natural disasters and other emergencies.

Upon completion of this knowledge-based educational activity, participants will be able to:

Identify the unique emergency preparedness needs of individuals with medically fragile MH/S |

Coordinate with local emergency management, healthcare, and behavioral health systems |
|
|
Promote staff and client safety through trauma-informed disaster response best practices |
|
|
Develop and implement emergency response, outreach and relocation plans for alternative housing settings |
|
|
Ensure access to essential resources: housing, clean water, sanitation, food, medication, medical care, and behavioral health support |
MAHEC has a pay-up-front policy for all CE programs. The only exceptions will be for pre-approved programs where an individual payment plan is appropriate. Registrations received without accompanying payment will not be processed and participants who have not paid the course fee will not be admitted into the program.
