Cancer is ranked #2 for cause of death in 15 of the 17 of the Western North Carolina Counties, with 3% growth year over year in projected new cancer cases. Rural critical access hospitals (CAHs) often rely on non-local oncologists or telemedicine, highlighting that local nurses may lack cancer-specific training or resources onsite.
This cancer conference would allow attendees to gain knowledge in current and advancements in cancer treatments, learn evidence-based practices to enhance quality of care, and connect with peers to share best practices and improve care coordination across different institutions and disciplines.
