In this 1-hour interactive, virtual module, Olivia Caron, PharmD, will discuss psychostimulant use disorder. She will begin by discussing the most common psychostimulants used, as well as current trends in psychostimulant use disorders in the United States. She will explain psychostimulant use disorder as a chronic disease and reflect on how it affects the health of users short-term and long-term. She will then discuss common barriers to treatment and methods of harm reduction for people who use stimulants. Lastly, she will describe the current treatment options available for people with stimulant use disorder.

This training module is part of a training suite that has been developed in accordance with the recommendations from the DEA and SAMHSA for the Medication Access and Training Expansion (MATE) Act. This requirement applies to physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, podiatrists, dentists, and other practitioners that prescribe controlled substances who are applying for or renewing their DEA license after June 27, 2023.
