Description
Join interprofessional colleagues to address team-based care of persons with chronic pain. Explore evidence-based alternatives like pain neuroscience education, motivational interviewing and whole health coaching. Additionally, get up to date on medication-assisted treatment strategies for opioid use disorder (OUD) and safer approaches to opioid prescribing for chronic pain. This educational activity is in collaboration with the Western North Carolina VA Health Care System (WNC VAHCS).
This program was designed to satisfy, in part, the North Carolina Medical Board's CME requirement for controlled substance prescribers. Per NCAC rules: As of July 1, 2017 all physicians (other than residents), physician assistants, nurse practitioners, podiatrists, and dentists who prescribe controlled substances must satisfy the controlled-substance prescribing CE requirements as set forth by their licensing boards; requirements vary by discipline and board.

- Utilize motivational interviewing and whole health coaching in patient care
- Manage micro-induction and management of buprenorphine
