As the population of America becomes exponentially older, healthcare systems are looking for ways to improve the care and safety of older adults. Age-Friendly Healthcare is a new movement in America that promotes best practices for older adults seeking medical care. To date, only a minority of healthcare systems—less than 20%—have sought certification and specialized recognition in Age-Friendly Healthcare. Our conference intends to educate providers about Age-Friendly Healthcare by providing interaction with those who have championed this approach in Western North Carolina. Our hope is that providers and nurses will gain knowledge about Age-Friendly Healthcare to increase the spread of best practices in geriatrics.
*This program is being presented in collaboration with AdventHealth Hendersonville, which is providing funding for the program.
