Dr. Carol Coulson is a Maternal-Fetal Medicine specialist who has been providing high-risk obstetric and imaging care at MAHEC for over 25 years. She completed Medical School and Residency at the University of Maryland and pursued specialized training in a Maternal-Fetal Medicine Fellowship at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She has a keen interest in delivering high quality specialty care to under-resourced rural populations and continues to build MFM imaging partnerships throughout Western North Carolina. She is the OB representative to the Buncombe County Child Fatality Review Team and Prenatal Safety Net Team.
She enjoys stress baking (so co-workers have treats), working out (to balance the baking!) and traveling with family to snowy or sandy destinations.
Program Director, Maternal-Fetal Medicine Fellowship
Dr. Foglia joined MAHEC Ob/Gyn Specialists in September 2022. She retired from the U.S. Army after over 24 years of service. She completed her Residency and MFM Fellowship at Madigan Army Medical Center and was the Designated Institutional Official at Womack Army Medical Center at Ft. Bragg, NC. Dr. Foglia enjoys teaching residents and fellows and was the Ob/Gyn Residency Program Director at Madigan for seven years. She has special interests in medical education, health equity, and simulation. She is also active in ACOG and currently serves as the Chair of the Armed Forces District. Outside of work, she enjoys hanging out with her dog Sophie, yoga, and enjoying all the culinary delights that Asheville has to offer.
Dr. Lisa Carroll has lived all across the U.S. and is happy to have found her home in the Blue Ridge Mountains of WNC. After earning degrees in Medicine and Public Health at UNC Chapel Hill, she completed residency in Ob/Gyn at Boston Medical Center and fellowship in Maternal-Fetal Medicine at the University of California – Irvine. In 2020, Dr. Caroll returned to North Carolina to join MAHEC Maternal-Fetal Medicine, and she is so grateful to work on a team dedicated to clinical education and expanding access to care in our community. She is passionate about caring for medically under-resourced patients experiencing pregnancy complications and integrating comprehensive family planning into MFM practice. Dr. Carroll considers it a great privilege to walk with patients through the questions and complications that arise in pregnancy and work towards healthy outcomes for growing families in WNC.
When she is not caring for patients, Dr. Carroll enjoys traveling the world with her family.
Dr. Katie Davidson joined the MAHEC Maternal-Fetal Medicine division in 2014 after completing medical school, residency, and fellowship at the University of Florida (Go Gators!). Although she grew up on the Space Coast of Florida, she previously called North Carolina home while attending undergrad at Wake Forest University (Go Deacs!). She loves that her job involves wonderful colleagues, educating future specialists, whole patient care, and community collaboration to improve health outcomes now and in the future. While she finds the entire spectrum of Maternal-Fetal Medicine fascinating, she gets especially excited about cardio obstetrics, perinatal mental health, multiple pregnancies, cervical insufficiency, and understanding fetal structural and genetic differences through advanced ultrasound techniques and diagnostic testing. She is so grateful for the honor of supporting families through pregnancies and that her extensive time at MAHEC means she has seen many families through hard times and on to wonderful outcomes.
When not caring for patients, reading, or teaching, she can be found enjoying WNC with her cardiologist husband and two sons.
Dr. Baillie Bronner is a second-year Maternal-Fetal Medicine Fellow. She is originally from Albuquerque, NM, where she completed her undergraduate and medical degree at the University of New Mexico. She completed residency at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, IL. Dr. Bronner’s special interests include expanding MFM access to rural communities, family planning, quality improvement, and medical education.
When not at work, she enjoys hanging out with her two pitties (Donna & Danny), trivia, and karaoke. Dr. Bronner would like to say she enjoys traveling or being out in nature, but what she truly loves most is lying in bed playing Zelda Tears of the Kingdom or playing Mario Kart & Mario Party with friends.
Dr. Caroline Fryar is a fellow in the division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine. She grew up in Chapel Hill, NC, where she attended medical school and later completed her residency at East Carolina University in Greenville, NC. Dr. Fryar is excited to be finishing her medical training in the western part of the state. She is interested in the management of hypertension in the postpartum period and improving care for pregnant patients in rural areas.
Outside of work, Dr. Fryar enjoys vegetable gardening and spending time with her husband and dog.
