The WIC Designated Breastfeeding Expert Quarterly Update will take a deep dive into the Core Curriculum for Interdisciplinary Lactation Care. This session will focus on infant anatomy and physiology for feeding and normal infant behavior.

• Describe and assess infant orofacial structures and identify abnormal presentations
• Identify infant reflexes related to feeding
• Describe infant motor functions for sucking and swallowing
• Explain how infant behavior may influence infant-feeding decisions
• Describe the six infant states to parents
• Use infant cues to help a parent understand their infant's physiological needs
