This three-and-a-half-hour training equips providers serving individuals with physical and mental health conditions, substance use disorders (SUD), traumatic brain injuries (TBI), and intellectual/developmental disabilities (I/DD) with the knowledge and tools to develop and implement effective emergency preparedness and response plans. Participants will learn how to coordinate emergency outreach, ensure continuity of care, and manage the relocation of individuals in alternative housing settings. The program emphasizes cross-sector collaboration, trauma-informed response, and resource mobilization to safeguard both clients and staff during natural disasters and other emergencies.

Audience

Nurse Care Managers, Psychologists, Tailored Plans, AMH+ and CMA agencies certified to provide Tailored Care Management, MH/SU/TBI/IDD residential and in-home services

Objectives

Upon completion of this knowledge-based educational activity, participants will be able to:

check Identify the unique emergency preparedness needs of individuals with medically fragile MH/SUD/TBI/IDD
check Coordinate with local emergency management, healthcare, and behavioral health systems
check Promote staff and client safety through trauma-informed disaster response best practices
check Develop and implement emergency response, outreach and relocation plans for alternative housing settings
check Ensure access to essential resources: housing, clean water, sanitation, food, medication, medical care, and behavioral health support

Cancellation Policy

MAHEC has a pay-up-front policy for all CE programs. The only exceptions will be for pre-approved programs where an individual payment plan is appropriate. Registrations received without accompanying payment will not be processed and participants who have not paid the course fee will not be admitted into the program.

Unless otherwise noted in course materials, the following cancellation policy applies to all programs:

  • Cancellations must be in writing (fax, email, or mail).
  • Cancellations received more than two weeks prior to the event will receive 100% refund.
  • Cancellations received between two weeks and five full business days prior to the first day of the event are refunded at 70% of the registration fee subject to a minimum $25 cancellation fee.
  • No refunds or credits will be given for cancellations received less than five full business days prior to the event.
  • No vouchers will be issued in lieu of a refund.
  • Transfers/substitute(s) are welcome (please notify us in advance of the program).
