The Rose Garden Series: Cultivating Sustainable Mental Health Practices

A thriving rose garden doesn't flourish by chance; It requires healthy soil, intentional pruning, patience, and ongoing care. The same is true for clinical mental health practice.

The Rose Garden Series is a collection of seasonal continuing education workshops designed specifically for mental health professionals, exploring the emotional realities of clinical work while offering practical, evidence-informed strategies that support both provider well-being and client care.

Through themes of growth, resilience, authenticity, and sustainable practice, participants will leave with tools they can integrate into both their personal and professional lives.

Preparing the Soil: Psychological Safety, Burnout, and Emotional Intelligence in the Mental Health Field

Just as healthy soil provides the foundation for growth, psychological safety creates the conditions in which clinicians, clients, and workplaces can thrive. This presentation explores psychological safety, emotional intelligence, burnout, and workplace culture within mental health settings. Participants will examine how emotionally healthy clinical environments support ethical care, clinician well-being, and sustainable practice while learning practical strategies for fostering resilience in themselves and the systems they work within.

Planting New Seeds: Emotional Sobriety, Self-Compassion, and Lasting Change

The beginning of a new year often inspires change, yet many clinicians and clients unknowingly rely on shame and self-criticism as motivation. This workshop explores emotional sobriety as the foundation for sustainable growth, highlighting how self-awareness, self-compassion, and accountability foster meaningful change more effectively than guilt or perfectionism. Participants will learn practical approaches they can apply personally and integrate into their work with clients throughout the year.

Pulling the Weeds: Shame, Imposter Syndrome, and the Hidden Barriers to Mental Health

Even in the healthiest gardens, weeds can quietly compete for space, light, and nourishment. Similarly, shame, perfectionism, and imposter syndrome often undermine both clinicians and clients, limiting authenticity, confidence, and emotional well-being. This presentation examines the psychological roots of these experiences while providing practical clinical interventions that help individuals recognize and challenge shame-based beliefs that interfere with healing and growth.

Pruning for Growth: Clinical Boundaries, Over-functioning, and Rescue Dynamics in Mental Health Practice

Healthy gardens require thoughtful pruning to encourage stronger, more sustainable growth. Likewise, clinicians must regularly evaluate boundaries, overfunctioning, and rescue dynamics that can contribute to burnout and inadvertently limit client autonomy. This workshop explores how intentional boundaries create space for both clinicians and clients to flourish while providing practical tools for fostering healthier therapeutic relationships and sustainable professional practice.
