Carolina Resource Center for Eating Disorders (CRC for ED) and Mountain Area Health Education Center (MAHEC) are pleased to present the 2026 HEAL Conference. This program addresses disordered eating and eating disorders recovery by experts speaking on the most current research and practices. Licensed clinical counselors, mental health therapists, nurses, physicians, psychiatrists, social workers, dietitians, other healthcare professionals, and the general public are encouraged to join us.

There will be no walk-in registration available.

    Carolina Resource Center for Eating Disorders (CRC for ED) is the only nonprofit in NC, providing education, resources, and support to individuals, families, and professionals concerned with disordered eating and recovery from eating disorders. Programming includes professional development and community outreach, resource and referral services through a helpline and treatment directory, weekly virtual support groups, and advocacy. CRC for ED is a small organization doing the work of much larger nonprofits, with local, regional, and national reach. All services are provided at no cost and are made possible through the generosity of private donors.     Event fees include administrative costs, educational materials, continuing education credits, breakfast, refreshment break, and lunch.     Objectives

    check Identify barriers to high-quality eating-disorders care, apply practical screening and triage strategies, understand multidisciplinary team roles and non-visit care, recognize reimbursement and advocacy opportunities, and co-create actionable, site-specific solutions - leaving with at least two implementable changes to pilot within three months
    check Elevate lived experience as expertise for individual and community impact, apply practical recovery tools to support healing, explore holistic approaches that extend beyond symptom reduction, and understand the role of nonprofits and collaboration in advancing advocacy and care in the eating disorder field
    check Match key temperament traits with major eating disorder diagnoses, describe neurobiological differences in brain circuitry between individuals with and without eating disorders, and identify strategies for applying neurobiological principles to inform treatment planning and care
    check Define neurodivergence and identify common profiles in eating disorder populations; examine how traditional treatment models may exclude or harm neurodivergent clients; recognize sensory, interoceptive, executive functioning, and nervous system influences on ED behaviors; apply neurodivergent-affirming, inclusive strategies; differentiate roles within interdisciplinary care; and determine when and how to make appropriate, ethical referrals

    Cancellation Policy

    MAHEC has a pay-up-front policy for all CE programs. The only exceptions will be for pre-approved programs where an individual payment plan is appropriate. Registrations received without accompanying payment will not be processed and participants who have not paid the course fee will not be admitted into the program.

    Unless otherwise noted in course materials, the following cancellation policy applies to all programs:

    • Cancellations must be in writing (fax, email, or mail).
    • Cancellations received more than two weeks prior to the event will receive 100% refund.
    • Cancellations received between two weeks and five full business days prior to the first day of the event are refunded at 70% of the registration fee subject to a minimum $25 cancellation fee.
    • No refunds or credits will be given for cancellations received less than five full business days prior to the event.
    • No vouchers will be issued in lieu of a refund.
    • Transfers/substitute(s) are welcome (please notify us in advance of the program).
