This lecture/discussion-based class will review the "2018 Classification of Periodontal and Peri-Implant Diseases and Conditions", which is a collaboration of the American Academy of Periodontology (AAP) and the European Federation of Periodontology.

Per the AAP, this redesigned disease classification guides comprehensive treatment planning, including a multi-dimensional staging and grading system for periodontitis classification, a recategorization of the various forms of periodontitis, and the inaugural classification for peri-implant diseases and conditions, and allows for a personalized approach to patient care.
