Minority Medical Mentoring Program
The Minority Medical Mentoring Program (MMMP) is designed for high school seniors from Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC) or underrepresented Asian communities that are enrolled in Buncombe County and Asheville City schools and are interested in healthcare. This program is a collaborative effort of the Asheville-Buncombe Institute of Parity Achievement, MAHEC, Mission Health, and the Western Carolina Medical Society.
To be eligible for this internship, students must have a minimum weighted grade point average of 3.0, qualify as an under-represented minority, be interested in pursuing a healthcare career, have an active record of work and/or community service, have access to reliable transportation, and be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Students apply and are interviewed in their junior year of high school.
