COVID-19 Information for Patients

  • COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic

MAHEC is providing COVID-19 vaccinations, including third shots to those who qualify, at our Biltmore, Cane Creek, Newbridge and Enka Candler Family Health Center locations by appointment only, for both patients and non-patients. Please call (828) 257-4730 for an appointment.

  • COVID-19 Testing

MAHEC's Acute Care Clinic offers testing by appointment only, Monday-Friday 8am-4pm and Saturday 8am-noon. You do not need a physician referral and you do not need to be symptomatic to receive a test.  Most insurance companies cover the cost and MAHEC has options to help uninsured patients cover the cost.  To make an appointment, please call (828) 257-4730 and press option #1.

  • COVID-19 Precautions in Place at MAHEC

Your health is our top priority. We want to ensure you get the care you need when you need it. We offer telemedicine for many services including well-child checkups, preventive care, same-day sick visits, prenatal care, chronic condition management, counseling, and prescription refills.

If you do prefer or need to come in for a visit, rest assured that our offices are open, clean, and safe. We limit the number of patients in our waiting rooms and sanitize our facilities continuously with medical-grade sanitizer. Patients with respiratory symptoms are seen in a separate clinic.

Masks: All patients and visitors are asked to wear a mask while in the office.  Please bring a mask with you - we are not able to provide a mask for you.

Visitors:  As of March 22, 2021, MAHEC will be relaxing visitor restrictions. One (1) visitor per patient will now be permitted to enter in support of their loved one.

In a continued effort to keep our patients and staff safe due to ongoing, substantial, COVID-19 community spread:

  • All patients and visitors will be screened for COVID-19 symptoms and temperature taken upon entry to a MAHEC office.
  • A facemask will be provided to all patients and visitors, if needed.
  • Visitors who have not been released from COVID-19 quarantine or visitors who are actively symptomatic are asked to kindly not enter the facility.

Virtual support continues to be welcomed at all MAHEC locations. If you would prefer to call your support person from the exam room so they can participate in your visit, we encourage you to do so.

We are continually evaluating the most up-to date COVID-19 data and state guidelines. We appreciate your ongoing patience and understanding as we navigate the best routes to ensure we are providing the utmost safety measures for our patients, visitors, and employees.

What is telemedicine?

A telemedicine visit is conducted using a computer or smartphone so you and your provider can see and hear each other. If you're not familiar with telemedicine, don't worry. This is new for all of us, and we're learning together! Many of our patients appreciate the convenience of telemedicine.

When it's time for your appointment, we will email and/or text you a link to click to start your appointment.
