This series of five classes, plus a related medical terminology class (for any language pairing), is based on the Cross Cultural Communication (CCC) curriculum.
All classes will be offered through live webinars only; interested participants must have adequate technology to engage fully in virtual audio and video interaction with the instructor, with reliable internet in their home or work office. Classes are not recorded; there is no opportunity to make up missed webinars. Further, there is one in-person proctored exam held at the MAHEC Education Building in Asheville, NC, which must be completed on March 7, 2023 - 1:45-3:45pm (Snow Date: March 14, 2023).
The classes are offered to those new to the field of medical interpretation, as well as those looking to improve their medical interpretation skills. E-manual costs are included in the class fees.
Prerequisite:
Only individuals who have completed Modules 1 & 2 may attend Modules 3 & 4 (and then Module 5).
The course of Medical Terminology can be taken separately from the series by interested interpreters or healthcare providers.
Note: Those who are interested in professional medical interpretation are urged to take the entire series of five modules, plus the Medical Terminology course, as this will award over 42 credit hours. 40 hours of medical interpreter education is required to take either of the two national medical interpreter certification exams.

MAHEC has a pay-up-front policy for all CE programs. The only exceptions will be for pre-approved programs where an individual payment plan is appropriate. Registrations received without accompanying payment will not be processed and participants who have not paid the course fee will not be admitted into the program.
