The Inaugural North Carolina Adolescent and Young Adult (AYA) Oncology Symposium will bring together multidisciplinary providers from across the state who are interested in improving care for this patient population. With a focus on collaboration and education regarding the unique medical and psychosocial needs of AYAs in North Carolina, this knowledge-based symposium will feature a mix of didactic lectures, breakout sessions, and working groups. Participants will take away practical ideas to improve care for AYAs at their institution. Additionally, connections will be made that will foster future research and collaboration among North Carolina institutions.

Physicians, Nurses, Pharmacists, Social Workers, Researchers, Psychologists, Recreational Therapists, Child Life Specialists, Advance Practice Providers, Physical and Occupational Therapists, Hospital Administrators, Program Directors

Objectives

  • Describe the unique medical and psychosocial needs of the AYA oncology population
  • Examine intern-institutional connection and collaboration across the state of North Carolina
  • Identify and apply strategies to improve AYA cancer care in North Carolina
