The 1st Annual North Carolina Adolescent and Young Adult (AYA) Symposium will bring together multidisciplinary providers from across the state who are interested in improving care for this patient population. With a focus on collaboration and education regarding the unique medical and psychosocial needs of AYAs in North Carolina, the symposium will feature a mix of didactic lectures, breakout sessions, and working groups. Participants will take away practical ideas to improve care for AYAs at their institution. Additionally, connections will be made that will foster future research and collaboration among North Carolina institutions

Target Audience

Physicians, Nurses, Pharmacists, Social Workers, Researchers, Psychologists, Recreational Therapists, Child Life Specialists, Advance Practice Providers, Physical and Occupational Therapists, Hospital Administrators, Program Directors

Objectives

  • Improve Adolescent and Young adult cancer care in North Carolina
  • Increase awareness regarding unique needs of the AYA population
  • Facilitate inter-institutional collaboration across the state of North Carolina
