Medical Interpretation: Standards of Practice; Advocacy; Professional Development and Self-care; Final Series Participant Assessment
MAHEC is pleased to partner with the WCMS Foundation, Inc. dba the WCMS Interpreter Network (WIN) to bring a new series on interpreting in the healthcare setting. This series is based on the curriculum of Cross-Cultural Communications, LLC (CCC). Those who are interested in professional medical interpretation are urged to take the entire series of five modules plus the Medical Terminology course (for any language pairing) as this will proffer over 40 hours, which is required to take either of the two national medical interpreter certification exams.
This series is offered to those new to the field of medical interpretation, as well as those looking to improve their medical interpretation skills. The sixth one-day class on medical terminology class can also be taken separately by interested medical interpreters or healthcare clinicians.
CCC Module 5 continues to build upon the base of knowledge gained in CCC Modules 1-4 and works from the same manual.
