Pharmacy - PGY1
The PGY1 Pharmacy Residency Program is performed in the ambulatory care setting at Mission Hospital in collaboration with MAHEC. The MAHEC Family Health Center provides training, mentoring, and evaluation for pharmacists seeking additional education in a wide variety of ambulatory care areas. The residency program develops ambulatory care practitioners who provide pharmaceutical care services in innovative settings in order to meet unmet health care needs. The ultimate goal of our program is to develop pharmacists who are compassionate, competent, professional clinicians who are able to enhance or develop new ambulatory care services and who share their skills with others by serving as effective teachers and leaders.
The majority of the residency curriculum is longitudinal, which allows the resident to follow the outcomes of panels of patients throughout the year. Residents are responsible for providing pharmaceutical care to patients of all ages and provide patient education, monitor for drug related problems, perform physical assessments, establish therapeutic goals and communicate with primary care physicians.
